Platforms and alert types
| Platform | LIVE stream | New video | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| YouTube | yes | yes | You turn both on independently and each has its own text |
| Twitch | yes | no | Give a twitch.tv link or just the login |
| Kick | yes | no | A beta feature: Kick has no official public API, so alerts can be late |
The first scan
After you turn on new video alerts the bot remembers the latest video and does not send old ones. It alerts only about the next one. A channel that is already live when you add it may send an alert straight away.
Custom text and role ping
Each type has its own message template with the variables {name}, {title}, {url}, {channel} and {platform}. An empty field means the default text. For every channel you can choose a role to ping, but it must be mentionable or the bot needs the Mention @everyone permission.
How fast alerts arrive
The bot checks channels every one to two minutes, so an alert usually arrives within a few minutes of a stream starting. The bot reads Twitch and Kick stream state through a protected helper service, so you do not log in to those platforms.
Frequently asked questions
Why did I not get an alert for an old video?
The bot deliberately does not send old videos. It alerts about new ones from the moment you turn the option on.
Do I need to log in to Twitch?
No. The channel login is enough because stream state is public.
Why is Kick in beta?
Kick does not offer an official public API for stream state, so we use public data that may change.
